Is there a version of IE8 that can be downloaded and installed on a Windows 7 SP1 PC or some type of work around?Īny efforts spent to help me resolve this issue is greatly appreciated. I also checked before and after removing Internet Explorer 9 from the Program and Features to see if Internet Explorer 9 was listed as a Program to uninstall or as a Program Update and Internet Explorer 9 is not listed in either of these sections. Unfortunately, this too is considered to be incompatible. Also tried setting the compatability for the IE8 install files to Vista SP2 and XP SP3 and run as Administrator, no help. After not being able to find a version of IE8 for Windows 7, I downloaded a copy of IE8 for Windows Vista 32 bit. When I attempted to install a Windows XP copy of IE8 that I have, I got an error stating that this browser is incompatible with the current operating system.

So I went to Turn Windows features on or off and unchecked Internet Explorer 9 then rebooted.

I went to Control Panel > Programs and Features, Internet Explorer 9 was not listed as a program that can be uninstalled. Our company is not yet supporting IE9 so I need to rollback to IE8. I have a Dell Optiplex 380 that came preloaded with Windows 7 Pro SP1 (32 bit) and Internet Explorer 9.
